I grew up Odessa MO, but now live in Shawnee, KS. I am a computer programmer but I think I am and will always be that
country boy from Odessa. I have
attended auctions all my life. When I was young I always tried to imitate
the auctioneer. I guess it was
something I always wanted to do.
So in June of 2002, I went to Missouri Auction School.
In July of 2002 I started helping Ray Fizer
in Odessa, MO and continue to do so.
When people find out that I’m
an Auctioneer and that I go to a lot of auctions they usually give me a shopping
list of things they need. So I tried to
keep an eye on upcoming auctions to let them know in advance. But I was having a problem getting the most up
to date sale bills because of my distance from Ray. Since I am a programmer and spend a lot of time on a computer,
the idea of suggesting to Ray to put his sale bills “on-line” was rambling in
the back of my head. Because if they
were on-line I could pull up all the coming sales to show all these people,
and even print one of the sale bills for them.
One day I was talking to one of my
“Dads”, I had many growing up, about the idea and he thought it was a good
way for people to see what was going to be for sale. He said there were other auctioneers putting their sale bills
on-line, but unless you knew the auctioneer or his site it was hard to
find. The idea started to form,
wouldn’t be great if there was one site you could go to that had all the
auctions in the Kansas City area. Where,
if your auctioneer didn’t have a sale that day, maybe their was another close by
that had things you were interested in.
Or, if you were looking for a particular item you could do a computer
search of all upcoming auctions in Kansas City that might have what you need. And like the song says “with a little help
from my friends” www.auctioninkc.com
was born. I hope you enjoy this site
and use it often.
